Submission to 2024-25 Federal Budget consultation

The Human Rights Law Centre made a submission to the Federal Treasury on a range of issues, including a federal Human Rights Act, which have implications for the 2024-2025 budget process.

The Human Rights Law Centre recommends that the Federal Government should support an Australian Human Rights Charter or Act.

The Human Rights Law Centre also recommends that the Federal Treasury should also implement in full the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights suggested action 2.23 in its Scrutiny Report 8 of 2023 in formulating the 2024-25 Federal Budget with human rights considerations.
