The Charter of Rights campaign heads to Wangaratta

It was a shared love of protecting human rights that brought hundreds of people together from across regional Victoria, to spend their Valentine’s Day in a packed hall at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre.

The crowd was there to hear a discussion on the importance of a National Charter of Human Rights, with Professor Gillian Triggs, former president of the Human Rights Commission, Teela Reid, lawyer and human rights advocate, and Father Peter Macleod-Miller, Anglican Archdeacon, moderated by Lee Carnie, human rights lawyer and campaigner.

The lively community forum was organised by Rural Australians for Refugees, Amnesty International, and the Human Rights Law Centre.
